Nativa Meter

Problem

How can we help Ab InBev’s Nativa beer protect their main ingredient, cassava, from the unpredictability of the rainy season, while providing farmers with a low-cost simple solution to protect their businesses?

Insight

We reinvented Nativa beer bottle, the beer farmers already know and love, giving it an innovative second use.

Solution

Instead of throwing away those beer bottles post suds, we worked with a team of  meteorologists to turn the beer bottles into rain gauges, a vital tool for farming that helps farmers better record rainfall patterns and protect their crops from losing them to heavy rain.

Now, 58% of Colombian Farmland is currently protected by the Nativa Meter today with over 2.8 million bottles produced. Farmers get the same technology of a professional rain gauge that costs $18 USD, but for only 24 cents of a dollar on a beer they already buy. This innovation is being implemented on other local crop brands of Ab InBev in markets like Ecuador, Peru, and Chile. First Cannes Lions win ever for the brand in 2023.
